Zero Ants is an inverted moat system to keep ants out of beehives.  There are 4 inverted moats are to be coated with an ant repellant high temperature weather resistant grease.  The moats are assembled between boards then the assemblies are placed under the front and back of a honey bee hive.  The grease "Zero Ants Grease" is available here also, in 4 ounce tins.  Because the moats are upside down They will never fill with water and bees or other insects collect and cannot drown in them; which happens with tradition oil or water moats and allows ants to crawl over the dead insects.  Ants will not crawl across the grease coated inverted moats.  Note: grass and weeds must be controlled so as not to contact the bee hive.  Shingles or other solid material works well.  If one blade of grass contacts the bee hive, ants will find it.  The boards supplied are treated 1" by 4" (nonground contact treated).  Ten frame size are 16 1/2" long,  These may be used with 8 frame hives also, or 8 Frame length 14" long are available also.   The advantages of Zero Ants over other methods are, The grease is not exposed to the weather, so it should last at least a year.  Also wind should not blow leaves or other debris that can stick to the grease and provide a path for the ants.  Do not blow grass from mower of other equipment towards the hive.  Because the grease is not exposed your tools, clothing etc. will not get greasy.  The assembly is very strong and stable and ease to assemble.  A hardware kit, "ZAK" is available also, containing every but wood board and grease.  Detailed drawing is supplied for the boards. Assembly Required.  If you are a woodworker, you can make your own board of any length to fit, long Langstroths, Layens, Top Bar, Warre hives, etc.    A drill press is highly recommended, as depths of pocket cuts is critical and very difficult to control with a hand drill.   Made in USA
