Millerbees Locking telescoping covers have integral "T" nut and Thumb screw, on the end, to lock the cover onto the hive. The opposite end of the covers have screw points to grip the hive body. The brick or stone typically used to hold the cover down is no longer required. The locking feature also allow you to lift the cover slightly off the hive body to provide ventilation, and then locked in place with the thumb screw. This replaces the usual twig or pebble, (that usually falls in the hive). The cover top is made from dry erase board. The dry erase board allows you to add notes on the inside of the cover. Notes on last hive inspection remain with the hive until next inspection. The wood skirt pieces on the covers are made from reclaimed Cypress. This is not used cypress but pieces of cypress that the lumber yard was discarding because they were to short or narrow to be marketed. Using this reclaimed cypress takes much longer to sort and cut to size but it help save other trees. Cypress is a very light weight and rot resistant wood. Painting is not required or recommended. The top is heavy gage pre-painted aluminum and secured to the skirt with stainless steel staples that will not rust. These light weight durable covers will give you many years of trouble free service. Foam insulation also available. Patent Pending, Made in USA
